Dear Mr. Jenkins,
My name is Whitney Smith and I am writing to you to inquire about the open teaching assistant position in your school. I am currently a Junior at Utah Valley University intending to major in Integrated Studies with a teaching certificate.
I would like to gain experience in an established classroom before I commit myself to a degree in education. I am certain I would be helpful and successful in a classroom, as I have had experience teaching in an unconventional setting before. I have had the pleasure of teaching groups of boy scouts and adult leaders over the years at a boy scout camp out on Catalina Island. I've spent many hours instructing a variety of scout crafts and activities from leatherwork to open-sea sailing. The enjoyment and rewards I have gained from my years there have led me to think about pursuing a degree in education. I have the patience and conviction necessary to be an influential teacher and mentor.
I appreciate your time and consideration. Enclosed is a copy of my resume. The best was to reach me is my cell phone at XXX-XXX-XXXX or my email whitneyjsmith06@gmail.com. I look forward to meeting with you.
Thanks again,
Whitney Smith?
